The CrissCross FPV The Chief X-Class frame is very unique, as in it's core of design is single plate construction with arm connected using L-shaped brackets made from CF plate. This goes in conjunction with traditional big frames layouts, were two main plates are used with special aluminium or TPU brackets. There was several reason to follow this path - less custom made parts needed, lower total weight, pre-designed "weak" spot that can be easily changed in case of heavy impact.
One of top plate and bottom plates are connected to L-shaped vertical bracket. That joint makes whole construction extremely rigid and eliminates any free movement of arms. Still in case of heavy crash (as been proved it strength test) L-shaped bracket is first part to fail, absorbing most of impacts energy and keeping main plates and arm without any damages. Frame was strength tested, construction can handle up to 900N of direct force. (please see picture with me stepping on top of the frame ;)
Main plates is widest part of the frame, just few centimeters wider than battery. That is the factor that keeps drag coefficient low and helps to use stored energy more effective, increasing speed, acceleration and flight time of the drone.
Main body of the The Chief frame is constructed with two horizontal plates. Main plate is used to mount PDB and ESC's, but middle plate is used to mount FC, VTX and other electronic component. That allows to protect controlling electronics from noises coming from power distribution elements.
Bottom plate is sliding up and down to hold battery/-ies tight to middle plate, close to the center of gravity. It also serving as battery protector within hard uncontrolled landings.
Frame is produced based on pre-orders. Production time is up to 3 weeks.
